Chanserv is almost the same as Nickserv, but You can use chanserv to register your channel to the network. This way if nobody is in your channel, and some stranger joins your channel, will not be given the channel op status. Thereby cannot take over your channel. Note that any channel which is not used for 21 days (i.e. which no user on the channel's access list enters for that period of time) will be automatically dropped.
Here is a list of commands You can use for Chanserv. If you want further help, you can use the command /msg Chanserv HELP
Register - This command lets you register your desired channel. Use the command /msg chanserv channel password description (Your desired password and a sort description what the channel is about).
Identify - This command helps you identify your registered nick by using /msg chanserv identify channel password.
Set - sets channel options and information. Set the options with the command /msg chanserv set channel option parameter. See the options with the available parameters here:
Sop - You can add a nick to, remove a nick from , list or clear a channels Superop list. With the command /msg chanserv sop channel add nick you can add somebody. With the command /msg chanserv sop channel del nick you can remove somebody. If you use /msg chanserv sop channel list, you get the channel Superop list. You can also use the entry number before a nick in this list with /msg chanserv channel del number, instead of the complete nick. With /msg chanserv sop channel clear you clear the whole list at once.
Aop - You can add a nick to, remove a nick from , list or clear a channels Autoop list. With the command /msg chanserv aop channel add nick you can add somebody. Drop - With the command /msg chanserv drop channel, a channel founder can cancel the registration of his channel with chanserv. Note that the channel founder have to be identified to Nickserv.
